Hearing the Gentle Spirit of God
Pastor Denis Federau
1. In 1 Kings 19:1–8, how does God respond to Elijah’s fear,
exhaustion, and discouragement? What does this reveal
about God’s character and care for us?
2. God asks Elijah twice, “What are you doing here?” What
might God have wanted Elijah to recognize about his
circumstances, his fears, and his understanding of the
situation?
3. Why do you think God was not in the wind, earthquake,
or fire, but spoke through a gentle whisper? What
helps—or prevents—us from hearing God’s gentle voice
today?
4. Elijah wanted to remain under the broom tree and later
inside the cave, but God called him to continue his
journey. Where might comfort, fear, or discouragement
keep us from following God into something new?
5. As Clearbrook MB enters a season of transition, how can
we make room—personally and together—for the Holy
Spirit to provide strength, direction, healing, and unity?
What is one practical step we could take?
