Easter is Coming!

Have you ever mourned your failings and imperfections? I do. I always think I should be better than I am. And yet if I think about it – it is in this very place of weakness that God wants to work. It is through my deficiencies and flaws that God seeks to work through me. For when I take my eyes off of me – I am able to see Jesus better.

Here is how Paul writes to the Corinthian churches about weakness: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” “Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships,  persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10

As you think about your own failings, listen to the sermon about Jesus’ disciples who were less than stellar at the Last Supper. This supper should have been about Jesus – but it became about them. And in focusing on themselves they missed what Jesus was telling them.

This week our prayer theme is allowing God to shine through our weaknesses. Are you willing to pray about what is not strong in you? Are you willing to lay this at Jesus’ feet so that you can see God at work through you?

Create in us pure hearts, O God, renew right spirits within us. Lord Jesus Christ, you take away the sin of the world Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.

Our sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. O Lord, lift us, cleanse us and restore us, that we may know the joy of your salvation, We bring glory to you in all things through Jesus Christ our Lord.
